Biography of AJ Versatyle

Born Emmanuel Kwaku Boahene but popularly known as AJ Versatyle, is a fast-rising Afro- Dancehall Reggae artist. His music is a blend of  dancehall and afrobeat. This Ghanaian Dancehall reggae act started off as a member of a church Choir. As a professional he achieved near-instant success with his single, Teshie W) j3 

 

 AJ Versatyle’s passion for music goes as far back as 10 years ago but he decided to pursue his music bournes in 2010. He snappily came a ménage name in Teshie where he grew up and gained respect and recognition amongst his peers which led to a collaboration with one of Ghana’s top-notch artists Skrewfaze which he calls his Godfather. 

                                                  

Numerous ask why the name AJ Versatyle and why is it spelt with" ty" rather of" ti"? AJ stands for Alpha Jah which simply means the Beginning God and Versatyle depict how multi-faceted or protean I am, my music cut across all genres been in Dancehall, Reggae, Afrobeat, Hi-life among others. Cos I'm the Monster Style and the monster hit maker. I see myself as the largest artist to ever radiate from the mainland of Africa. 

His lyrical style is introspective and socially conscious yet non-judgemental. He tells normal testimonies from the perspective of a truth seeker looking for answers.

AJ Versatyle, a proud Ghanaian who has devoted a lot of work into learning his craft. Learning each and every day because he believes that you stop growing once you stop learning. This proposition coupled with his humble onsets spurs him on. He is already glowing in the dark and that's what cautions do. 

 

 In 2018, AJ Versatyle was nominated for an award for Discovery of the Year. Subsequently this year he was awarded the Music video of the year in the Ghana Golden Music Awards.

In 2019 he released his debut 6 track EP tentatively dubbed ‘ Strong faith ’. 

When asked in an interview why he choose strong faith for his EP, he said; 

The only way to have strong faith is to endure trials. I’ve really faced up and downs in my career, also life can be full of unanticipated effects either happy or sad, but no matter what happens, just always keep a loving heart, a wise mind, and a strong faith. 

 

Notable past performances include Mr. Drew Jam Party, Teshie Street Carnival in which he performed alongside Shatta Wale and Jupitar, Ghana Merits Awards, Save the Dance, and Cathy Brown Video Premiere party among others.

His unique style and musical dexterity have helped in unveiling his gift outside the props of Ghana. Which is an occasion for him to unite with other foreign artists and also help expand his fan base and network. 

 AJ Versatyle has been nominated in four different award orders this time
