The pursuit of education, creativity, and professionalism often calls for resilience, focus, and adaptability—qualities that define Ghanaian model, presenter, and now graduate, Joshua Niiquaye Abbosey, popularly known by his showbiz name, Ganyobi Niiquaye. Joshua recently made headlines by graduating with First-Class Honors in Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (Journalism Option) from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
For Ganyobi Niiquaye, GIJ wasn’t just a random choice; it was a long-held dream from his senior high school days. "GIJ has always been my dream university since SHS," he revealed. This aspiration drove him to pursue a rigorous academic journey, which culminated in earning the prestigious First-Class Honors. Reflecting on his achievement, he expressed heartfelt gratitude:
"I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that this moment is the culmination of my dreams, hard work, and strategic efforts. This success, I believe, is not just a result of my efforts but a testament to divine guidance and providence."
Balancing Act: Challenges and Triumphs
Ganyobi Niiquaye's road to academic excellence was not without obstacles. Balancing weekend classes with professional commitments, including interviews and event appearances, was a significant challenge. Despite these hurdles, he remained focused.
"Absorbing vast amounts of information in a short time while attending weekend events tested my mental discipline. But my determination kept me going, and I emerged stronger and more focused."
Even setbacks became stepping stones for Ganyobi Niiquaye. He recalled a difficult moment during his diploma studies when he failed a critical course. Rather than giving up, he retook the course, passed with flying colors, and learned a life-changing lesson: “Setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how we respond to them that matters. I embraced challenges as opportunities to grow.”
Beyond the Classroom
Ganyobi Niiquaye is currently serving with Publicis West Africa, the number one advertising agency in the world. But his ambitions stretch far beyond advertising. His long-term goal? Becoming a barrister. While pursuing his career, he remains deeply committed to his personal interests, including reading and sketching designs.
Personal Philosophy
He lives by a powerful mantra: “Prayer, hard work, and determination stimulate success.” This philosophy has guided him through tough times and continues to inspire his journey.
Heartfelt Gratitude and Future Aspirations
Success is never achieved in isolation, and he acknowledges the immense support he’s received along the way. He dedicated his achievement to his parents, Uncle Paa-C, Mr. Darkwah, Mr. Joseph Gorleku, and all creatives who played a role in his journey.
Looking ahead, he hopes to secure a scholarship to study abroad, further expanding his horizons and fulfilling his dream of becoming a barrister. His story is one of hope, resilience, and relentless pursuit of greatness, inspiring many young Ghanaians to dream big and stay committed to their goals.
With a heart full of gratitude and eyes set on the future, Ganyobi Niiquaye exemplifies what it means to chase one’s dreams with unwavering determination.
